College as you attend the class on Chicano/Latino Arts & Culture at
CHAC. This class will be offered in conjunction with Metro State
College's Mauricio Saravia Poetry Series April 2012 and the Journey
through our Heritage exhibit,"Sacred Foods, Sacred Sites : Indigenous
Nourishment For the Soul".
All teachers from elementary to Social Studies, History, Art, and Spanish will benefit from taking this class.

CHAC Announces Teacher Recertification Credit Available Through Adams State College!
Attend
any four sessions of "A Fresh Look at Death" and receive one half credit hour teacher
recertification credit. Class runs in October. Register for all
six classes and receive one class free. A
6 week course of therapeutic art workshops exploring death and life
offered by CHAC & Heart Therapy in conjunction with Dia de los
Muertos, lead by Certified Systemic Art Therapist, Art & Museum
Educator, Julie Marino.
To
the Mexican mind, death is viewed as a transition of life, a normal
stage in the circle of life on earth, and a natural progression…not an
ending.
The goal of these art making workshops is to: • Shed some light on the subject of death by taking a look at another culture’s perspective, namely Mexico. • Grapple with your own views / fears of death • Provide an avenue to grieve the loss of a loved one • Experience the benefit of group interaction • Complete the course with a renewed sense of living life to the fullest
Week 1, Duality-Life &Death Week 2, The Mayan view of the cycle of Life and Death Week 3, Christ’s view of Death and Life Week 4, Fears of Death and Hopes of the Hereafter Week 5, Dia de los Muertos and commemorating the death of a loved one Week 6, Accepting our own mortality and living life to the fullest
Cost
is $35.00 per class and includes all art materials. No art experience
