CHAC is seeking assistance with a ground-breaking art show, the likes of which have not been seen in this part of the country. “Finding Common Ground” will join the forces of the Chicano Humanities Arts Council and the Sankofa Arts Collective to produce an exciting art show held in three community art spaces during the month of July. In addition to showcasing over 30 outstanding artists from the two communities, the effort will provide educational venues for students and demonstrate the shared history and commonality of art from two cultures. This joint project will also support the ongoing cultural diversity and community outreach efforts of both groups.

Opportunities for sponsorship include: 
  • Advertising (postcards, flyers & posters)
  • postage costs
  • all types of food for three receptions in three venues
  • underwriting for musical presentations
  • wine, water and other beverages (alcoholic or non-alcoholic)
  • anything else you’d like to donate!

This art event will feature artists’ talks  and opening and closing receptions. We will invite the entire metro area to join in the month-long celebration of family and shared community.

CHAC is a consortium of artists, individuals, and organizations dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Chicano/Latino culture.
The Sankofa Arts Collective is a group of 25 African American artists living and working in the Historic Five Points neighborhood. The events will be held at the Blair Caldwell African American Research Library, CHAC and Sankofa’s Back Do’ Studio.
   
With your partnering help, our arts collectives will provide this inaugural art event for the enjoyment and education for the entire community and offer participants of all ages an opportunity to explore their own creativity as they learn about two cultures. We are seeking donations of any and all types to facilitate this interaction between our artists and the community.
